Millions of Americans will be cooking turkey in the next few weeks as my favourite holiday of the year rolls around... Thanksgiving. While many will probably stick to the tried & tested roasted-in-the-oven recipes, many brave people will be trying new and creative methods to cook their holiday turkey, like grilling, smoking or even deep frying turkey.

Or if you like dark meat, fried turkey legs and wings will become your new favourite Thanksgiving dish. Regardless of whether you are a fan of white or dark meat, here're many turkey fryer recipes that will be certain to wow you and your family this Thanksgiving:

That's a more sophisticated fried turkey recipe, magnificent if you're trying to impress the in-laws!
Ingredients:
1 (10-12 pound) full turkey
1/2 cup minced garlic
Salt & pepper to taste
3 gallons peanut oil (or as required)
3 sprigs fresh rosemary
12 cloves garlic, peeled
1/2 cup chopped fresh ginger root
Directions:
Rub the turkey with the minced garlic, sale and pepper, on the in and outside. Fill the hollow space of the bird with rosemary, garlic cloves and the ginger. Marinate for half-an-hour in the fridge.
Remove the herbs and garlic from the turkey and discard. Follow the standard turkey frying directions below. Enjoy!
Standard Turkey Frying Directions:
* Heat oil to 350 degrees F. Ensure that the fryer is placed outdoors in a secure place (flat dirt or grassy surface away from the home, wooden decks or other flammable surfaces).
* Trim any extra skin away from the thawed turkey. The neck hole must be minimum 1 inch in diameter. Pat the turkey dry, then rub generously with salt and pepper on both the inside and outside. Place the turkey neck-side first into the fry basket.
* Lower the basket into the hot oil, gently and gradually. Ensure that the hot oil fully covers the turkey.
* Cook for 3 1/2 - 4 minutes per lb. For a 10 lb turkey, it should take roughly 35-40 mins to cook the bird.
* Remove the turkey from the oil and insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the thigh to measure. Temperature will be 180 degrees F.
* Let the turkey to rest for 15 minutes before carving.
