A Young Man Needs Therapy For His Acute Depression, Relationship Difficulties, And For His Alcohol Dependency And Drug Addiction
Approximately three months ago I had breakfast with a forty-three-year-old male named Benjamin who experiences extreme depression, has relationship difficulties, and who is addicted to drugs and alcohol. As explained by Benjamin, it is his alcohol and drug dependency and his severe depression that has had the most to do with his endless relationship issues.
As explained by Benjamin, he is so crushed by his relationship issues and by both of his medical issues that he in actual fact has little or no driving force to do much of anything. What is especially sad about this is that earlier in his life, Benjamin managed to complete two semesters of graduate school in theology.
Benjamin's circumstance makes me question if he is an illustration of an individual who can look in the mirror and see his chemical dependency and drinking problems and do something constructive about these issues. Fourth, treatment for his relationship problems and his depression might help him deal with these mental health difficulties more successfully and possibly create less of a need for him to engage in additive behavior. And finally,in rehabilitation he could also learn more about the different symptoms of alcoholism that he has exhibited.
Due to the fact that Benjamin doesn't have the drive to succeed at doing much of anything in his life, it is apparent that he definitely needs a little hope for a better lifestyle. And the unfortunate thing is that hope is virtually everywhere around Benjamin if he could only get to the place in life to get the treatment he requires for his extreme depression and alcohol addiction and drug dependence and continue with his treatment protocol.
Benjamin is simply too young to be overwhelmed in life. He doesn't comprehend this at the moment but if he can learn how to stay away from drugs and alcohol through alcohol and drug therapy and get the treatment he needs for his acute depression, he can redirect his life and begin living with passion, self-respect, and direction.
More meaningful relationships, positive change, self esteem, and a wonderful life are clearly a reality for Benjamin. But only if he can get motivated to seek the professional rehab he needs, follow through with his therapy protocol, live his life in an addiction-free and healthy manner, and learn how to acquire a more positive attitude about his life.
